Asharq Al Awsat Top Arabs on Twitter list


London based Arabic daily Asharq Al Awsat published a list of prominent Arabs active on Twitter (December 2011). The paper is owned by Al Saudi businessman Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.

The paper highlights the emergence of several Arab Foreign Ministers who were active on Twitter in 2011.

-    The Foreign Minister of Bahrain Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Al Khalifa

-    The Foreign Minister of Jordan Nasser Judeh

-    The Foreign Minister of the UAE Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed 

The daily then highlights the top ten Arab Twitter users of 2011 most of whom were active in journalism and news media.

1-    Queen Rania, current Queen of Jordan, wife of King Abdulla

2-    Wael Ghonim, Egyptian activist

3-    Queen Noor, former Queeen of Jordan, wife of King Hussein

4-    Ameera Al Taweel, wife of Saudi businessman Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal

5-    Sultan Al Qassemi, UAE commentator

6-    Dima Khatib, Palestinian-Syrian journalist & Al Jazeera Latin America bureau chief

7-    Alaa Abdel Fattah, Egyptian activist & blogger

8-    Saad Hariri, former Prime Minister of Lebanon & Saudi-Lebanese businessman

9-    Hossam Hamalawy, Egyptian socialist activist & blogger

10- Ayman Mohyeldin  Egyptian-Palestinian NBC correspondent in the Middle East & former Al Jazeera correspondent in Egypt
